Industrial Hemp Stakeholder Database (2024-25)
The Center for Marketing and Consumer Insights needs a custom web-based application to track, monitor, share, and visualize the nascent industrial hemp industry's stakeholders (companies, organizations, etc.). The project supports the acceleration of industrial hemp in the US and is funded by a USDA grant. The application needs to support data entry, auditing, and sharing.
Objectives
Easy to maintain and manage web-based database application to track and monitor companies and organizations in the industrial hemp industry – 3-year lifespan for project.
Motivations
The current solution is a shared Excel spreadsheet that is difficult to manage and error-prone; it does not have any auditing or tracking to ensure data integrity, so any student researcher can accidentally overwrite prior entries and wipe out other students’ work with no warning. Also, stakeholders are constantly changing, so there is extensive and constant editing. Change control is needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Web-based facility for: data entry, auditing and change control, archiving, and publishing (visualization and publication).
- Multi-user data entry – multiple student researchers will be entering and updating data in the database.
- Add and update custom categories and attributes to organize all companies and entities.
- Administrator service – Auditing and approving updates and changes.
- Export to Excel or Google Sheets
