Multipurpose Seating Buck for Vehicle and Aircraft Simulation (with Dr. De Amicis)

This capstone project aims to design and assemble a multipurpose seating buck that functions both as a vehicle and aircraft simulator. The system will provide a dynamic platform for simulating real-world scenarios in automotive and aviation contexts. Key to this innovation is its dual compatibility with Unreal Engine and Unity, utilizing geographic information sourced through the ESRI SDK to create immersive 3D environments.

Objectives

Design and Assembly: Build a robust seating buck capable of simulating both vehicle and aircraft environments.
Integration of Simulation Technologies: Utilize Unreal Engine and Unity to render 3D environments based on geographic data. Ensure seamless switching capabilities between vehicle and aircraft simulation modes.
Biometric Data Collection: Incorporate biosensors into the seating buck to gather biometric data such as heart rate, stress levels, and other physiological responses during the simulation. This data will be crucial for analyzing the impact of simulations on users.
Software Development: Develop custom software modules to process and visualize the collected biometric data in synchronization with the simulated environments. Focus on data accuracy and real-time processing capabilities.

Motivations

Outcomes: A fully functional multipurpose simulator that can switch between vehicle and aircraft modes.
A system that provides insightful biometric analytics, enhancing user experience and safety during simulations.
A scalable and adaptable platform that can be further developed for more specialized simulation needs.
Team Composition: This project is suitable for a team of 2-4 students, preferably with skills in electric/electronic engineering, software development (specifically in Unreal Engine and Unity), and biometric data analysis.
