Dating app for animal adoption

This is a "dating" app project that matches shelter animals up with prospective owners. This can be an iOS or Android app, or a responsive website that works on desktop, tablet, and mobile.

IMPORTANT: This project does not have a formal industry or faculty mentor and is student team managed and directed.

Objectives

Requirements: Accounts and login. Admin and public accounts. Shelter needs to be able to create new "dating" profiles, with type of animal, breed, disposition, pic, availability, news item, and description. Users can browse profiles to find a pet, or search by type, breed, disposition, or date created. Animal types include dog and cat plus "other". Breed shall be the most common ones plus "other". Disposition are checkboxes that include "Good with other animals", "Good with children", "Animal must be leashed at all times". Availability includes "Not Available", "Available", "Pending", "Adopted" "News Item" is just a news/PR blurb. Update it to send current news and the image of animal to the Daily news feed queue (stretch requirement) Profiles can be removed when the animal is picked up. App/website should have a landing page. Stretch Requirements: Website needs to be responsive (viewable on desktop or mobile). Daily feed on app or website landing page offers the latest status updates on animals Email notifications for newly added profiles Pics can rotate through a set of images Set email preferences

IMPORTANT: This project does not have a formal industry or faculty mentor and is student team managed and directed. If you choose this project for a one-term Capstone such as CS 467, make sure to manage the deliverables for that time frame. Alternatively, if you choose this project for a 3-term capstone (such as CS 461, 462, and 463) you will be expected to make the project more robust (and to determine how best to do this). The Instructor and TAs are available to answer any questions you may have about the project or provide resources, etc.
