Fire Department 911 Risk Analysis
[1-TERM / 3-MONTH PROJECT] How often do you get to write code that could save lives? For this project, your team will work with Levrum Data Technologies, an industry leader in fire department/emergency services predictive analytics solutions. You will enhance and modify an interactive user interface (UI) for Levrum's new 911 risk analysis web application. The UI will display multiple risk views and analytics using maps, charts, and tables. You will also integrate the UI with the prototype application backend. This application will help fire departments improve their response times to 911 calls and identify service gaps.
Objectives
Core Objectives: Implement UI user stories and test the user interface for Levrum's risk analysis web application. Implement enhancements to the application backend. Integrate the frontend and the backend. Test the end-to-end system. Report the results.
Motivations
This project will give you the experience of working in a small software engineering team, under the guidance of experienced engineers in this field (including OSU Capstone veterans!), with input from long-term fire department/emergency service veterans and other technical experts. We run projects that are challenging and rewarding, FUN, and excellent resume-builders. We have a long track record of highly-ranked projects, successful job placements and even hiring some of our own Capstone team members. But most important, in this project, you have the opportunity to develop an application that truly help communities by saving lives, property, and money.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Excellent team play * Ability to develop moderately complex software systems * Mastery of at least one object-oriented language * Did we mention excellent team play?
Preferred Qualifications:Good communication skills, React or JavaScript experience, C# or Python experience, UI/UX experience, database experience.
