Optical Feedback Fabric Wearable
Design and produce a prototype fabric wearable that senses the movement of the subject and their environment. Create portable feedback mechanisms to the wearer through optical or auditory (or both) alerts. Special attention must be paid to human-centered design, accessible materials, consumer comfort, and low power consumption (long-term wear).
Objectives
Wearable fabric with embedded sensing capability with easy-to-use readout or feedback. Ideally a calibration option to accommodate multiple degrees of use.
Motivations
Sensing in smart cities and smart structures is starting to move into fabric/wearable spaces. Wearables with embedded monitoring systems have many applications such as assessing health, movement, heart beat, or oscillating motion of particular spaces such as arms, hands, feet, etc.
