FOSS Project Manager Software (on-campus team)

 This application will be a free and open source solution for project management, with the goal of being more feature-rich than other free options. 

Objectives

  • Fully functioning software application that includes:
    • The ability to add users and have secure authentication
    • Stores tasks with details, such as dependency levels, story points, and a description
    • Able to present tasks in a Gantt chart

Motivations

There are many work places, from labs to student projects, that won't/can't pay for project management tools but still would benefit from features that are almost impossible to find in free software, such as Gantt charts. Often tools like Trello lack the features, while very function-rich tools like Jira cost money. Often this means that project leaders have to waste time exporting information between multiple platforms.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Taken introduction to web dev and database classes, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with more advanced web dev frameworks such as Angular, ReactJS
