Thrive Guides-Customized Thrive Plans for Older Adults
Project Title: Thrive Guides: Automated Wellness Planning and Knowledge Hub for Older Adults
Project Summary:
The Thrive Guides platform aims to empower older adults to lead healthy, engaged, and fulfilling lives by providing personalized wellness plans and easily accessible knowledge resources. Our vision is to design an intelligent, user-friendly platform that automatically generates individualized “Thrive Plans” across multiple dimensions of healthy aging—physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and home management. In addition, we will integrate a knowledge center and a digital wellness assistant to provide timely guidance, local event recommendations, and practical at-home activities.

Motivations
Why This Project Matters:
There is a growing need for solutions that support the well-being of an aging population. Many older adults and their caregivers struggle to find trustworthy, tailored activities that cater to unique interests, mobility levels, and cognitive capacities. Thrive Guides aims to close this gap. By leveraging technology, we can present customized recommendations—ranging from senior-friendly exercise videos and local community events to engaging cognitive challenges and accessible gardening tips—directly through a user-friendly dashboard. Our hope is that older adults can effortlessly discover meaningful ways to stay active, socially connected, and mentally stimulated, ultimately enhancing their overall quality of life.
Why This Is a Great Project:
- Real-World Impact: Your work will directly support older adults in discovering activities that enhance their daily lives.
- Technical Breadth: This project covers full-stack development, from front-end UI to back-end recommendation algorithms and NLP-driven features.
- Innovation Potential: Students can explore cutting-edge techniques in recommendation systems, semantic search, and conversational AI.
- Multi-Disciplinary: Beyond coding, consider how to present information ethically, accessibly, and comprehensively to a vulnerable user base.
- Expandability: The project’s framework could be extended to other user groups and integrated with new data sources over time.
