Wireless Heat Map

Python
Web Applications

This is the Capstone project for Jordan Ng, Kenneth Price, and Justin Vaughn. The team was tasked by the Network Operations Center at Oregon State University to develop a clean web-based interface for monitoring the wireless usage throughout the day. To that end we have built a Google Maps Overlay for the Corvallis campus that displays a color coordinated heat map of a building anticipated occupancy based on the number of wireless connected devices. This interface will allow the Network Operations Center to better track usage and, using historical data comparisons, anticipate future growth needs. One of the stretch goals that the team has prepared for is to develop a part of this interface to make available to students and those seeking a place to study, this map can be used to help alleviate the congestion of certain buildings during peak study times and encourage the full use of the campus facilities.
