We built an automatic locking system for a pet door which allows for security and notifies the owner of the date and times it was used. Using the HC-05 Bluetooth module we were able to create an app that not only lets you know when the door is being used. But will also tell you the day and time it was used and stores in on an SD card that is eject able and readable. It also gives a day and time of usage to your phone app that can be downloaded from the Google Play store. The ultra sonic sensors on both sides of the door also let you know when the pet is either returning or leaving so the owner can keep track. The locking mechanism will unlock when it senses a pet and lock back up after a short period to ensure security and safety and can withstand more than 30 lbs of force. future improvements could include another sensor (possibly infrared) to work together with existing ones to let us know if the pet went through or not to help get more accurate results. Or a camera feature to give more control to the user.
