With this project I took a deep dive on two competing next generation video standards. This video standards are brand new and only just appearing on devices. At work, I am responsible for writing video decoder software that reads raw network bytes and decodes them into a viewable video stream. Since we are beginning to incorporate H.265 streams into our software distribution, I figured it would be apropos to explore how it relates to other video coding standards.
