NASA Deliverables Critical Design Review (CDR)/ Flight Readiness Review (FRR)

Research

Critical Design Review (CDR) and Flight Readiness Review (FRR) are two important milestones in the University Student Launch Initiative (USLI) project. There is a total of three criteria in both Critical Design Review (CDR) and Flight Readiness Review (FRR). Testing launch, documentation, and presentation. First, testing launch. The purpose of it is to test the rocket as well as collecting the data from the flight. For CDR, the sub-scale testing launch happened on January, 23rd, 2021. And for FRR, the full-scale testing launch happened on February 28th, 2021, the team traveled to the Oregon National Association of Rocketry (NAR)'s launch site which is located at Brothers, Oregon. For the test flights, the electrical sub-team tested the GPS systems for both the Payload and the Avionics system. Second, documentation. The purpose of documentation is to show the detail of the vehicle design as well as the data that was collected from the testing launch. The document can be divided into several different sections corresponding with each individual sub-team: Structures/Propulsion, Aero/Recovery, Payload, and Electrical. Last but not least, presentation. The purpose of the presentation is to compress the information that was in the document and present it to NASA. CDR presentation was presented to NASA on January 14th, 2021 at 8:00 am (EST). And the FFR presentation will be present to NASA on March 14th, 2021.
