Small farms in Thailand face a unique challenge in tracking and managing weather, from varying levels of rain to flooding during the night. With irregularly shaped fields, tracking the location of problems is challenging. Raitong Organics Farm, whom we have been working with, seeks to monitor the localized weather conditions of the farm and collect data to study the benefits of their organic farming practices. We utilized two feather microcontrollers, one to collect and transmit data and another to receive and upload data. The wireless communication is accomplished using a LoRa transmitter/receiver pair. The system is solar powered with a battery to maintain operation throughout the night. All sensor data is stored in a MySQL database and can be accessed using the GUI of our data visualization webpage. Major accomplishments include a fully functional system capable of collecting and storing the sensor data in a convenient manner. A big logistical challenge for us was scheduling meetings as a team. A more technical challenge was getting continuous operation for 14 hours, our final design fell a couple hours short.
