The Iceberg Explorer ROV 2019-2020

The Iceberg Explorer ROV is an underwater ROV system that will be used to explore the uncharted ice-ocean boundary. This task will be done by making alterations to the existing and open-source BlueROV2 technology. The project features a team of Electrical & Computer Engineering seniors, a team of Computer Science seniors, and it was inspired by Dr. Jonathan Nash a professor of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University. This project would take place over the course of multiple years and different teams however the end goal is to develop a system that has the capabilities of remotely navigating to an iceberg, attaching itself using heating elements, and collecting data that can be relayed back to the main boat for analysis.
