LEDs Visualized was a project designed and built by LED group 3 for the purpose of encouraging and engaging new students in the study of engineering. LEDs Visualized was intended to be used as a supplemental light source as well as a 3 dimensional display for messages and animations. It is able to use wall or battery power to send power to an Arduino which controls the animations displayed on the LED cube. When the user wants to change animations, the cube can be plugged in and our user interface will automatically help the user make new animations that can be switched between at the touch of a button. This project had some challenges along the way including a breakdown in communication, integrating Arduino outputs with shift registers, creating a cost effective system, and the sheer amount of time required to assemble the system. Given more time, another more common power source such as USB-C, more user options for manipulating the LED cube, and an easier system for assembly would be added.
