Wintel Sumo Bot 9000 ECE342-Sp20
By
This project is a Sumo Robot built with the intention of a competitive mini-sumo robot setting with the capability of pushing another mini sumo bot out of a ring. The robot uses an Arduino Uno at its core and has an ultrasonic sensor to detect the object to push out of the ring and an infrared sensor to prevent the bot from accidentally leaving the ring. The values received from the sensors are sent to two DC motors controlled by a motor driver and a 4x20 LCD to display sensor values for developers to debug the bot. The system is powered by a 9V battery to sustain a 15 minute or more life span. The most challenging part about this project was accounting for the delayed shipping times and the inability to meet up in person with our team to collaborate on the project. What we would do in the future to improve our design would be to use rechargeable batteries and revamp the design of our enclosure to enhance its offensive capabilities.
