Very Cool Custom Timer 002-4

This project is a custom timer with a maximum time of 1hr and once the time reaches zero there will be an alarm at 440 Hz until the timer is switched and no longer in the counting down state. The technologies implemented in this design are located on 3 protoboards and 1 PCB. The first protoboard deals with user input and has: a potentiometer output voltage at 2 nodes for 3 options of brightness, 2 buttons which output voltage at 1 node each and control the value of the timer, and a switch which outputs voltage at 1 node and controls whether the timer is counting down or not. The second protoboard organizes the flow of power and diverts voltage to different areas of the design. The third protoboard is a series of not gates which are used because of the active low inputs on the DE10-lite FPGA. Finally, the PCB is a voltage regulator which reduces VCC for the 3 protoboard circuits to 6.5v in order to reduce damage in case additional voltage is applied. One big accomplishment has been the accuracy of the timer, being off by less than half a second per minute. One major area for improvement would be to further improve the accuracy by using more significant figures in the math used to control the count down.
