Know It's Off

IoT

This small form factor IoT device attaches to an oven light and allows for one to connect to a website that will tell you whether your oven is on or not. The light from the oven enters a lens which both spreads out the light to be easily seen from the device and contains a light sensitive resistor. A microcontroller onboard the device sends out a packet to a webserver hosted over the internet that will store that information within a database. A user who accesses their account on this website can see the state of their device as well of its battery information. Notable achievements for this project include Google Assistant Integration, SSL and HTTPS secure connectivity, and a slick layout that prioritizes usability. This project could be better improved with more secure Google Authentication methods and create a custom antenna design for the PCB.
