The goal of this project is to design and test a prototype inverter for the Global Formula Racing (GFR) Team here at Oregon State University. This inverter will be an improvement in the last year's design and feature improvements in reliability, efficiency, safety, and size. It is expected that the inverter will be able to handle the maximum 30 kilowatts of power at 600 Vdc from the onboard battery. The inverter system will also feature inputs and outputs to a CAN bus within the vehicle. Some of the data received from the CAN will control the duty ratio and switching frequency of the inverter system.
