Chicken Coop Monitoring System (ECE342-W21)

Our smart chicken coop system gives the user an easier time when taking care of chickens with its food and water monitoring system, autonomous heat lamp control, and warning lights for user intervention. Using real time clocks, as well as ultrasonic and daylight tracking sensors, the system is able to track the food and water levels, adjust the heat for the chickens depending on the time of day, as well as warn the user if the resource levels are too low. All of this data is logged to an SD card so the user can check the coop's conditions for several weeks. As of now, the data is logged to an SD card where the user would have to manually get the data, but future designs would allow for wireless communication so the user would not need to go to their coop. However, the current design allows for easy access to the SD card so inserting and removing the SD is as quick and easy as possible.
