Research

The research team works on developing printed circuit boards (PCBs) that can be stretched and deformed without significant loss of their electrical properties. My role in this project is to 3D print liquid metal traces on silicone beds to develop these PCBs. The liquid metal traces serve the same function as traces on a traditional rigid PCB, except that liquid metal can be deformed and still conduct current. In general, the liquid metal traces become more resistive when they are deformed, so a key part of the general research project is to develop stable traces that can withstand high levels of deformation.
