Augmented Reality At The Engineering Expo
Our iOS application aims to create an interactive experience for users attending the Engineering Expo* through augmented reality. Augmented reality(AR), is an interactive digital experience. In the same way that Snapchat uses a users phone camera to take in visual information and overlay filters, our application similarly takes input from the users phone camera to return a response when pointed at a QR Code. These QR codes were originally intended to be distributed to booths at the Expo where users would be able to read further information about groups. It is worth noting that an AR experience is different from a VR experience in that in AR we simply augment to what is already in the users environment, small changes that can be viewed on most devices, where as VR is an immersive experience, big environment changes typically viewed through some type of VR headset. For our application, we are making small changes to the users environment that can only be viewed through the app to help create a better experience while at the expo. * Our application is modified due to the change of EXPO environment.
