2 Axis Robotic Drawing Arm 005-3

The intended use of the system is to use input from either the joystick or G-code commands to draw different pictures or shapes using SCARA topology for a 2-axis robotic arm. The arm can also take in positional statement code from python scripts in logic-based movements. The key technologies implemented include stepper motor control, raspberry Pi integration, and 3D printer design on Fusion 360 to create different parts for the robot's physical design. The Raspberry Pi was by far the most crucial part of our design as it was the brain behind the operation and processing of stepper motor commands. Our group's most notable achievement was meeting all class-based requirements for our robot. If we were to redo the project we would have implemented a pulley for the second axis and maybe even switched to powerful servo motors in place of stepper motors to cut down on the costs of using stepper motor control boards. Overall, we felt this project was a great challenge and anyone who attempts it will learn a great many important things that may not be covered in your basic classes.
